Omar Hilmy


Omar Hilmy co-founded Chaos Theory, an early stage venture capital firm based in Los Angeles. As a Managing Partner, Omar is focused on finding early stage startups and world-class entrepreneurs solving the world's toughest problems. Prior to Chaos Theory, Omar was an early employee at Airbnb. At Airbnb, Omar wore multiple hats, he helped launch the business travel program which has resulted in 2M+ verified business travelers and 250,000+ registered businesses, including Google, Facebook, Salesforce, and TBWA. Omar also worked on enhancing the host and guest experience by establishing partnerships and tools that aid host performance, confidence, and connection to Airbnb. Omar built and ran recognition and loyalty programs, including the Superhost and Milestones program. He also worked on the business development team where he structured and operationalized deals with companies such as Tesla, American Express, Virgin, Wasserman, and Wealthfront and helped create and develop the Host Assist program.

Prior to Airbnb, Omar worked at BitTorrent where he led partnerships with leading content providers, and at Rocket Internet, where he brokered deals with international shipping carriers, airports, and docks to reduce shipping time & cost. In 2012, Omar cofounded UCMeTalk, a live social network where one-on-one video chats are facilitated between random university students at various college systems.

Omar was born and raised in Los Angeles where he studied International Development Studies, Middle East North African Studies, and Accounting at UCLA. He also was the first student to receive the UCLA Venture Capital/Startup fellowship.
